New Things I Have Done After A Year At Emerson
- Loaded in four shows at a Broadway sized road house.
- Been paid (well) for doing technical theater work.
- Got a job by saying I wanted it, and then doing it for free for four months.
- Been requested to do a show with someone, instead of asking to do it, or them just assuming I will.
- Discovered Strawbrerry!
- Dealt with a rental shop.
- Went to a shop prep.
- Loaded a truck.
- Unloaded a truck.
- Helped pick up a truck.
- ME’d a show in a venue I had never seen.
- Taught myself Vectorworks
- ASM’d a new work
- Didn’t design a single show in a season
- Became respected as a technician and as a person by people much older than me.
- Realized just how bad at spatial reasoning I am.
- Fell out of weird habits.
- Started saying “struggs” and “woof”.
- Prepared two different portfolios.
- Had stressful interviews.
- Met some of my favorite new people.
- Met some favorite people who became favorites within days of meeting them.
- Found out what I want to do and why I want to do it.
- Followed my bliss completely.
